This quite reddish brown butterfly was flitting about in the dappled sunshine of the highland forests of the island and I thought it must be a Wall Brown from its flight and habit of resting on the ground. Later browsing through the photos, it turned out to be the Canary Speckled Wood a locally common but endemic butterfly to the Canary Islands (La Palma, Gran Canaria, La Gomera and Tenerife).
