Vicia lunata   Early Vetch

Vicia lunata whole Vicia lunata close

Very pretty though this vetch is, I didn't realise at the time that it only occurs in very few places in Cyprus and in one place in Turkey. The Cyprus botanists describe it as a "near endemic" which I suppose is a bit like saying it is "fairly unique" and you really can't have degrees of uniqueness. Apart from the four places on the map of GBIF portal, it occurs nowhere else in the world. Wish I'd taken more trouble taking the photos really.
