Subularia aquatica   Awlwort

You usually have to look just beneath the surface of the water at the edge of an unpolluted lake to find this plant. The flowers often stay closed if they cannot reach the surface and open to very small 1 or 2 mm diameter four petalled flowers on a loose raceme. I would normally look for this in June but these were in full flower after a relatively dry Spring in May and most were out of the water.
