Polygonum aviculare   Knotgrass CCC D N

polygonum aviculare polygonum aviculare

This is a very common but easily overlooked plant with tiny flowers in the axils of the leaves. It is heretophyllous which means that the leaves have more than one form which can be seen in the two photos.

P. aviculare is found throughout the British Isles and Ireland but is less common on the high mountain peaks of Scotland and Wales.
