Juncus gerardii   Saltmarsh Rush CC DD N

Juncus gerardii fruit Juncus gerardii flower

This rush is often found in coastal marshy regions where it will be regularly washed by the tide. It isn't a very tall species and can be hidden in the saltmarsh amongst taller plants like Juncus maritimus (Sea rush).

Although mostly a coastal plant it is found inland in one or two places particularly in the Hebrides. It is found on virtually all coastal stretches of the British Isles and Ireland.
