Eucryphia lucida   Leatherwood Tasmanian Endemic

Eucryphia lucida

E. lucida is a common temperate rainforest species which produces white rose like flowers when it blooms in summer. Indeed the family it belongs to : Eucryphiaceae is quite closely related to Rosaceae. There are garden hybrids of this species available and to my great surpise when a tall evergreen shrubbery plant was covered in blooms in 2008, I discovered I actually have one in my own garden in the British Isles.
