Echinops exaltatus   Globe-thistle C DD I

Echinops exulatatus Echinops exulatatus

E. exaltatus is an introduction from Europe which has occasionally escaped from gardens and naturalised itself successfully on roadside verges but the Echinops genus is a tricky one to characterise so this is only a tentative identification. This particular specimen has been known at this site for over a decade although it doesn't feature on the BSBI database. Most of the escapes are in the South and central England with scattered sites elsewhere.
