Dryopteris carthusiana   Narrow Buckler-fern C DD N

Dryopteris carthusiana Dryopteris carthusiana sporangia

This looks like a member of the Buckler Fern family in that it is 2 to 3 pinnate but prefers to grow in damp or boggy grassland. The very pale yellow-green colour is a characteristic. We found this in one of Kent's last remaining bogs which was very small and not very boggy.

It is found throughout the British Isles with infrequent sites only in the north of Scotland and southern Ireland.
